The Gänsemarkt (literally: geese market) is a triangular square near the Hamburg State Opera House. Many shopping arcades and the famous Jungfernstieg run unto the Gänsemarkt.
The Alter Wall and Neuer Wall streets lead directly to the Jungfernstieg, which is on the Alster canal. To the south are many shops, boutiques and jewellers, as well as the renowned Alterhaus department store.
